If you are looking for affordable real estate on the south side of the Lake Travis area, Apache Shores may be the answer. Located in the Colorado River basin, the Apache Shores community sits off Highway 620 just west of Austin between Lakeway and Mansfield Dam. With its convenient location, residents can easily enjoy all of the sites and sounds of the city while also enjoying a number recreational activities and taking in the natural beauty of Lake Travis.

Apache Shores gets its unique name from the fact that it was once inhabited by Native Americans. More recently, however, the land was part of a 13,000 acre ranch that was owned by a man named Jack Josey. After this land changed hand and it started to become more developed, however, mobile homes dominated the landscape. Today, a few mobile homes can still be found in the area, but Apache Shores now contains numerous waterfront homes along Lake Austin as well as magnificent homes perched on top of cliffs. The area also features a great deal of newer construction to select from.

Children living in Apache Shores attend school at Lake Travis Elementary and Hudson Bend Middle School. Both of these schools are part of the Lake Travis Independent School District, which is well regarded as one of the better school districts in the state.
