This tranquil Northwest Austin neighborhood is one of the best places to live in the city. But it's also a great place to eat, drink, and be merry. And though the traffic on Burnet isn't bad compared to most of the residential areas in town, Mopac is a quick drive away.
Allandale real estate is found between Mopac and Burnet, south of Anderson Lane, north of North Loop. The Allandale properties are endearing and affordable. And the local public schools are top notch with Brentwood Elementary and McCallum High School, Austin's Fine Arts Academy with a strong AP program. Mostly single-family, Allandale homes are the perfect fit for your growing family, or young professionals looking for a place with space.
Burnet Road is undoubtedly the cultural and business center of this area. There you'll find just about everything you need from restaurants and bars to pottery classes and tax services. For coffee and a bite, veg or not, try Pacha - an eclectic little shop. If you're in the mood for Mexican, you really can't beat Taco Deli. One of the best (and little known) breakfast joints in town, Austin Diner, aims to please you and your family. The Poodle Dog Lounge is a perfect dive bar for when you need to get away from them. Or you could take them with you for a Sunday afternoon of "Chicken Shit Bingo" at Ginny's Little Longhorn Saloon. And Phil's Ice House serves up killer burgers, it's also next door to Amy's Ice Cream, a legendary Austin staple for over twenty years. For shopping there's the H-E-B. Or you could try the MGM Indian Foods down the road if you're feeling up for an ethnic adventure.
Allandale is also a great area for arts and activities. Clayways has pottery classes at their studio and gallery. The Shoal Creek Greenbelt is nearby and Beverly S. Scheffield Northwest District Park is a huge public park with a pool, playground, picnic/BBQ areas and a baseball diamond. And if you're hard-up for ideas, the Allandale Reporter website keeps you up to date on the latest news clippings and neighborhood goings-on.
All in all, this area is the kind of place anyway would enjoy. It has all the flavor of any other eccentric Austin neighborhood without the unfortunate foibles of a city in the midst of overpopulation.

I have to admit that when I first reached out through Yelp to set up a meeting with Eric I was a little skeptical. I was reading reviews of his service like you are right now, and as Eric knows well from our time working together, I'm a person who likes to research and organize just about everything. The fact that I couldn't find even a couple of negative reviews among the hundreds of reviews Eric has across Zillow and Yelp seemed to me to be too good to be true. Fast forward six weeks and one successful closing later, I'm very pleased to report that the service I got was exactly the service I read about if not better. Eric and Bailey Bowden who's Eric's right hand couldn't have been better to work with. This was my first time buying a home, so I had a lot of probably very stupid questions. Despite this, they cheerfully and promptly answered them...
Meredith Alderson is AMAZING! We have worked with many realtors, and Meredith is one of the best. She was very respectful of our budget and what we were looking for in a house. She quickly figured out the key items we wanted and helped us narrow down our search. We were relocating from Arizona and had our two young children with us - she was great at being attentive to their needs and also letting them join in with their opinion. She made house hunting (and buying) a fun experience - with minimal stress! You cannot go wrong with Meredith as your realtor!
Eric Bramlett is an incredible realtor. When my wife and I were looking for a realtor to help us relocate from California to Austin, Texas, we were impressed by the quantity and quality of the online reviews for Eric... and let me tell you, they were not incorrect. Eric is very knowledgeable of the entire Austin area, but he was also very accommodating of our timeline and our need to work feverishly to find a home quickly (as it's not easy to go back and forth from CA to Austin multiple homes).
I cannot say enough fantastic things about working with Tara McGuire at Bramlett Residential. When I reached out to Bramlett via the online contact tool, I had already spoken with several realtors in the Austin area. My inquiries were met with lackluster responses, likely because my husband and I didn't plan to purchase for several months. But when I contacted Bramlett Residential at 10pm on a weeknight, Tara called me first thing the next morning. She encouraged us to visit Austin soon, since we are relocating from Dallas, to get an idea of the neighborhoods and market. During this exploratory trip, we felt no pressure to buy ahead of our schedule. She gave us a great overview of central Austin neighborhoods and helped us narrow down the best areas for us.
