New Site Design Feedback

I just went live with the first acceptable revision of my new theme (in case you hadn’t noticed.) :)  If anyone has feedback on the design, it would be greatly appreciated.

Eric – well done and great place to start to fine-tune.

Some small stuff
- You have to the curser has to be right on or very close to the “words” on the top tab rather than anywhere on the tab. ( Home | Buy | Sell etc…). Maybe when any piece of that top tab is scrolled over, there just a subtle highlight indicating its ready to click.

- The “Search Now” icon (to the right) of your logo. Do you want to that to be a link to the search page. Right now it links to nothing. It feel like a call to search IMHO.

“Quick search” formatting thought
- My gut says go with “Area” at the top (where subdivision is right now).

More to come but looks slick…congrats…

Thanks, Kevin. Feedback noted and sent for the first round of revisions. I like the idea of moving “area” above “subdivision” – great insight. Thanks.

Not a problem at all…a pleasure.

Another small one but worth noting. How about people who’ve registered and come back to say back? But they’ve come back via the home page, blog.

I guess it depends how you structure your campaigns but what I’m getting at is it may make sense it may make sense to add the “Login/Signup” icon on every page (rather than just the Search.EB page.

Better yet, perhaps using another smaller Tab on every page called “My Dashboard”(like on Search.EB) would be a more effective as it’d also function as a CTA. That is, those who have already signed in will know what’s going on. But those who haven’t may be curious.

Regardless, and just my opinion, in your pop-up registration, there should be a some kind of CTA/descrition benefits of having “Dashboard” account (especially if integrated into every page of the site). I think the CTA can be short and sharp but I’d put one in.

Hope that made some semblance of sense…if not, let me know!

New design is a HUGE improvement over the last one, great work! My only suggested improvements so far would be to work on typography a bit more.

On the main blog page the headlines should have more space between them and the content font is okay but still kind of heavy (imo) for in-content reading. I really like the typography on this theme I saw the other day: http://straightshooter.thesisthemes.com/

That aside, the site navigation has really moved up a few notches. I look forward to playing around with the site some more!

Eric – The new theme is a very nice improvement. I noticed the banner seems a little bit to big for the area. The “Search Now” graphic is a little over-sized. Also, half your phone number is missing on the right side of the banner.

@Kevin & @Josh – Thanks for the feedback. The login/register will be a little harder to code, so I’ll have to consider it for the future. CTA text is implemented on the dev site for the light window pop up, so will be there soon.

@Shane – thanks for letting me know about the issues. Would you mind letting me know what browser & screen pixel width you’re using? I’ve tested for a # of them, but obviously didn’t get them all!

I really like your new look. Easy on the eyes.

Hi Eric,

I like the very smooth and new look. Very attractive!

The quick search text is translucent in FF but clear in IE making it a little challenging to read the text in IE. Also, not a biggie, I notice the bullets are either white or not showing up when I placed my post.

I’ll keep poking around and see if I can find anything else.

Eric,

The new theme looks great, I think the side bars are very crisp and clean now. Also great use of limited colors, I think far too often on real estate blogs admins have too many color schemes going on.

Eric,

Looks good. I do agree that the search now graphic is a bit too large. I would also think about using a different color for the View Property and Advanced search buttons on your quick search (maybe even the same color as the submit comment button that I am about to click :) ).

Eric, ok so I’m going to be straight up here. This new look is much better, now let me state why. Your old site did not have the idx in front of the customers face at all times. I like the fact that customers at any time can search, without having to look for some search button that YOU may have thought stood out, but many people including myself hardly ever saw it. Anyways the new site is way better because of the idx smack in my face.

Hello Eric,

I like this theme compare of what you have since my last visit in here. But I noticed that the fonts size that you used is a little bit big. I might suggest that it will look better if the fonts size is in normal size.
