Great idea to have a contest like this. Will there be a dedicated blog or site for the contest where people who joined the contest can interact to each other. I think that would be easy for the contestants who wants to join.

Man, this looks like an awesome contest, I know I have only had my license for a month, but hell I’m in.

So now what is this contest supposed to accomplish, finding the greatest agent in the world, or the greatest Search Engine Optimizer in the World?

No, it’s certainly not to find the greatest agent. How would you judge that? Most customers Served? Most homes sold? No, this is a significantly more important title – Person most likely to waste a ton of time and effort for a ridiculous SEO title.

Did you guys notice I’ve got a site at 12th place now? Youtube’s definitely got some power behind it. I don’t know how long it will last. SEO Nicks myspace site was like a shooting star, there one minute gone the next.

We’re going to see a ton of bouncing around for the first month – it will be a lot of fun to watch, but it’s not really going to mean much until the SERPs start settling.

Yeah, bouncing around is an understatement. I suspect domains will be purchased and links redirected in the ‘last hour!’

Where’d you go? I can’t figure out why your ranking dropped so much… Any ideas?

It’s called the Google Dance, my man! There will be a LOT of shaking around initially, and things will start settling in a few weeks.

Did you guys notice Ardell’s post is no where in sight? I checked, and it’s on page 5 on my datacenter. Folks were joking in her comments about how her page was ranking with no seo. Well, I guess it shows that ranking is indeed about seo, not just a site’s authority.

Come on Bramlett, I know if I am beating you then you have put little to no effort into this:) Are you holding back or what? I haven’t had a ton of time to dedicate to this, but it looks like Blackwell and Ryan are staying strong.

I know, I know. I actually have some link building ready to go. I’m going to be banking big time on a couple of linkbait pieces that I have in the works.

I’d like to say thanks for coming up with this contest. I think if anything, we should learn quite a bit as we strive to improve our SERPs. I agree.. the competition is tough and I’m willing to bet some of you pros have got some tricks up your sleeves! Did I hear someone mention link bait?? LOL!

Eric, from what I have read so far on your site with regard to SEO (love the do-follow list), I have a feeling you are going to give this contest a run for its money. But I read a post on Ardell’s site and that one is perplexing. How can someone make one simple post and turn it into a number two on google? Is it because it’s a controversial post? Either way it was a smart move whether she knew it or not. What are your thoughts?

Hey Holly – much of SEO boils down to links. Ardell wrote a controversial piece that naturally garnering a bunch of links. If the links weren’t there, the site wouldn’t rank. Ardell doesn’t know much about SEO, and her claim that “I simply wrote this post & it ranked” is complete BS.

Holy Cow Eric. I am humbled in your presence. ;) I didn’t realize how serious this was. I’m obviously still learning so much about SEO and it’s nice to have people like yourself out there helping the cause. I hope to be able to contribute in a constructive way sooner than later. I’m doing okay it seems since my site lingers in the top 5 for my area, but I’m trying to be more proactive and get it to the top 3 steadily which means I have alot of work to do. So thank you, again, for your contributions. It means a great deal.

good luck with this competition it sounds like its going to take a lot of work to win. i’m not a real estate agent so i’m not in this competition but i may write a post in my blog just to see how well it does in google.

I must be on the wrong DC, because here in Costa Rica he shows as number 1 :)

Yeah Mike, I’m not sure which DC you are using but I just checked about 27 of them and he is either number 10 or not on page 1, it’s about 50/50. Which brings up a good question. Which DC is the determining data center for the contest? That could get a little tricky. Maybe someone’s already answered that I don’t know.

If there are diff’t DC results, then it’s whoever has the greatest # of DC’s as #1.

Morgan gave me that answer as well, but not sure which mathematical formula will be used to accurately determine the REAL winner. ;)

Should be an interesting contest….
