Forbes Says We’re Laid Back

Forbes recently rated the stress levels in America’s top 40 largest MSA’s.  Austin ranked dead last in stress, or first in “laid back” (which is how I like to think of it.  They cited our 1% year over year median price drop in real estate (which shows what’s on everyone’s minds, in my opinion) and our relatively low unemployment of 7.1% (which shows what else is weighing on the public.)  Texas did well, in general, with San Antonio ranking just below Austin, and Dallas next on the list.  Houston ranked #32 of 40.

Maybe I should move to Austin and I could be stress free :)

Doesn’t Austin have a ton of recreation within the city? Town lakes, swimming pools, biking trails etc. It’s almost like being on vacation year round.

Eric,

I’ve never had the opportunity to travel to Texas but I really like where your state is headed with there leadership and beliefs. Texas looks like an amazing place to live your life.

Not suprised to see the great news!

I have to admit I am surprised Dallas ranks that high on the “laid back” scale. I have often been envious of you guys further South for multiple reasons, this would be one of them.

Hi Eric,
As a houston resident, im happy with the results… This city is great, less people with an employment, and a great place to live and relax.

That was a good read. I thought for sure that New York City would be at the top of the list and Los Angeles down a few notches so the results were surprising to me.
