Austin Ranked #2 Strongest Economy by Businessweek

In yet another, “Hey, things aren’t so bad here!” article, Businessweek has ranked Austin the second strongest economy of the major metro areas in the United States.  Texas & Oklahoma performed extremely well with San Antonio finishing #1, and Dallas, Houston, El Paso, OKC, & Tulsa all landing in the top 10.

Congrats Eric. I posted a blog entry a few days ago where CNN put Kennewick as the best real estate market in the United States.

Sure is nice being on ‘best of’ lists.

Great time to live in Texas, Dallas is holding its own, but I hope rates stay low and more people relocate to the area!

Things are looking good in Austin as usual! Capitalism at it’s best! Good Job.

I am so pleased to hear that Austin is doing well. Austin has always been a strong market so I am hoping the rest of the state will stay strong too. We are so blessed to live in Texas!

Austin is going great especially in the unemployment arena. Where I’m at in Southern California, the unemployment rate is double Austin at 14.2 percent.

Hey Eric, Congrats on Austin’s stellar ranking and thanks for the heads-up. I didn’t know about this article and it turns out Madison was in the top 40 too!

Yes, It is good to live and work here in the Austin area. I talk to old friends all the time that have moved up north and they can not beleive me when I tell them that the local economy doesn’t seem to be effected that much by the nation wide recession.

Yes Eric it’s great working here in Austin. I own a landscaping company that services all the Austin area. We were up 21% in total sales from 08 to 09. I could tell even before these articles were published that our local economy is still staying pretty strong. Now I guess all I need to do is hope we stay out of a bad drought this year.
