The Hills of the Lakeway, which is more formally known as The Village of the Hills, is a beautiful golf community that is surrounded by Lakeway. Although it is not actually part of Lakeway, it still has much to offer to retirees as well as those looking for a vacation home.

The History of the Hills of Lakeway

The Hills of Lakeway became an incorporated city in 1997. Whereas the community was once considered simply a vacation destination or a community for retirees, the recent expansion of this gated community to include restaurants, shopping centers and many other local services has transformed the community to one that is also ideal for those looking for a full time residence.

Things to Do in Hills of Lakeway

The Hills of Lakeway’s premiere attraction is its Jack Nicklaus golf course, which contains a beautiful waterfall hole that many consider to be the most beautiful hole in the state of Texas. Residents also enjoy private access to a number of facilities, including fitness facilities, tennis courts and a swimming pool. Of course, the easy access to Lake Travis also means that residents can participate in a wide variety of water activities, including boating and jet skiing. Residents also gain membership to The Hills Country Club, which allows them access the The Hills’ golf course as well as the Flintrock Falls’ course.

The Hills of Lakeway Economy

The Hills of Lakeway is about 40 minutes from Austin, making it still within commuting distance for those that want to take advantage of the numerous employment opportunities the city has to offer. Homes in the area, which were typically built between 1984 through 2007, range in price from the low $300,000s to about $750,000.
