Top 3 Cheesiest Realtor Business Cards

So my original blog “Top 10 Worst Realtor Headshots” drew quite a bit of attention. Most readers thought it was funny, but it drew some criticism, as well. The negative attention was so heated that the word “lawsuit” was thrown around quite a bit (more on that another day.)

In order to avoid suit, I had to pull the original post, but one broker contacted me & asked that I put his headshot back up.

Frank is proud of his headshot. He loves it. In fact, he sent over 2 more.

and….

No one can argue that these are some of the cheesiest Realtor business cards out there. Why in the world would he put these out?

It turns out that Frank has the same ideas about Realtor headshots as I do – they’re unprofessional & cheesy. As you can see with his over the top cards, Frank decided to make his point about the industry in a slightly different way – by pointing out the absurdity through caricature.

Eric,

Interesting approach, but I’m not sure most consumers would get that this is a joke. Especially when so many agents put up serious ads like these.

Just my 2 cents.

The shot with the dogs is ok, the other two are silly.

Frank has a great sense of humor!

Those aren’t cheesy, they’re just… different.

lol, I like the tennis card. I may have to make some of those myself. So much of this business has to do with setting yourself apart from the competition.

I see 20 normal business cards a day. These that you posted I might actually keep just because they are funny!

I love it Eric. There isn’t a huge difference between those photos and some of the serious 1980′s glamour shots that I’ve seen on cards. You should have a contest next month.

Everyone has their own idea of marketing. Frank seems to have a good sense of humor and is setting himself apart from others, cheesy or not it’s unique.

Too funny! I actually think alot of people like something not so mainstream. You sure Mert not going to find some reason to sue you on this one?

February 1, 2008

Its certainly a different approach and I don’t find it offensive. If it makes you laugh and/or smile, can’t be so bad!

I like “From Doghouses to Penthouses….”

And good for Frank for being such a good sport. How about some free linkjuice for him?

Eric,

This one made me laugh so hard. I always find people who take them selfs a little less seriously to be the most fun. I’m sure Frank would be a great guy to have a beer with.

Is this for real. haha These cards are funny. I thought this was a joke at first. I like the one that says ready to serve you. I did read up a little on the head shots deal, I thought is was genius link bait.

Glad you liked it. If you know anybody wanting to buy an Arlington Condo… (Insert cheesy slogan here)
Thanks

Eric check out this head shot in my area bellinghamwow dot com. This one should be bookmarked.

Frank DOES have a sense of humor!! That is great!

I am sorry that you had to pull the original post of “Top 10 Worst Realtor Headshots.”
It is really unfortunate when people take themselves too seriously.

Eric, Just found your site. These business cards are actually pretty funny. I think that there is a place for corny, cheesy advertisements in our business. For instance, I was thinking about doing a newspaper ad with me drinking a glass of milk…with the milk mustache and the words “Got Real Estate?”.

It makes me laugh…

You took down the 10 Worst Realtor Headshots? But that’s not fair! I never got to see them. I’m gonna sue you for depriving me of my right to see whatever I want to see online. JUST KIDDING. But it really does annoy me when I miss something because some whiney baby threatened to sue. :-)

February 8, 2008

Yeah….I’ve actually been reading up a lot on fair use. Expect another top 10 headshots blog in the near future.

February 11, 2008

I wrote about Realtor Egos Run Amok and realtor business cards awhile back. Frank who is my friend and competitor and ally in my Arlington condo market shared some of his at that time. My thoughts on the misuse of many realtor cards are there for you to read. Whereas his are intentional some others I found were “serious” and pathetic…..

Jay,

I am startig to plaster my picture on alot of my marketing items also. Facial recognition is a HUGE step toward gaining that coveted positioning spot.

If people see your face everywhere, I think they are more apt to call you rather than somebody they have never seen or heard of.

February 11, 2008

I don’t know, Johnny. Did you read any of my article on the issue?

“The realtor is using their photo as their brand/logo. The trap of this is that the realtor is afraid to change their photo on their marketing supplies because they don’t look like their “brand” anymore as 5-20 years have gone by. I know so many realtors who look nothing like their brand and it is hilarious.”

Is your face the best way to brand your business? Do other businesses do that? Is okay for RE because ours is a relational industry. I’m not sold that your face should be #1 for branding purposes….

I think the cards are great. Frankie’s clients wil know that he has a sense of humor. Put me down as another person calling for the headshots to be recalled.
